Elementary Schools
Seminars:
Once a semester the gifted and talented students in Englewood meet together for a half-day seminar. A math seminar in the fall supports advanced proficiencies of state standards, and provides high academic rigor. In the spring, students visit Metro college to begin thinking about higher education. Most importantly, these are opportunities for gifted students to socialize with intellectual peers.
Service- Advanced Learning Plans reflect the academic needs of gifted students. Gifted students are cluster grouped to provide targeted high level instruction. A Gifted and Talented Specialist regularly works with teachers to provide differentiated and rigorous instruction and learning activities.
Middle Schools

Enrichment Activities- are provided to promote academic and creative rigor as well as socialization with intellectual peers. Some of the activities provided include:
Book Clubs Socratic Seminar method is used as participants seek deeper understanding of complex ideas through rigorously thoughtful dialogue.
Jason Project
Jason Project provides rich learning experiences using a hands-on inquiry based approach that mirrors the work of real scientists.
Chess Club
Students have opportunities to challenge each other, learn new strategies and participate in tournaments.
Math Counts
Mathcounts® is a national math enrichment, coaching, and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement.
National Junior Honor Society
National Junior Honor Society is a service organization for high achieving students.
Junior Great Books Junior Great books combine reading comprehension, critical thinking, writing, and collaborative discussion with classic, high-level literature.
Destination Imagination
Destination Imagination is a world wide competition. The purpose of DI is to teach creative problem solving strategies, teamwork, and life-long skills. Team challenges ask students to use art, technology, and performance in their solutions. These challenges build student confidence through commitment to task and group interaction.
