Public Comments
Ms. Nancy Weiss, IB PYP Coordinater at Charles Hay, read a letter from the Charles Hay staff thanking the Board and administration for their support of the IB PYP program. They also thanked Ms. Mary Vedra for bringing the IB program to Englewood Schools and for other initiatives she has started in the District.

Highlights from Superintendent's Report
Board Workshop—A Board workshop has tentatively been set for April 24, at 6:00 p.m. to begin discussing the Flood property.
Legislative Breakfast—On Monday, the Legislative Steering Committee, Board of Education, and some administrators were invited by Littleton Public Schools to a breakfast with legislators at the State Capitol. The main difficulty in addressing many education issues is lack of funding.
EHS Internship Program—EHS expected approximately 25 students to enroll for the new internship program. In preliminary registration, 69 students enrolled. They currently have about 30 corporations that are willing to participate in this program.
FBLA—EHS FBLA students did well in a recent District 5 Competition, earning 1st Place in six categories. The following students will go on to State competition in Vail: Esperanza Trujillo, Halsey Fritz, Amber Spence, Chase Reyes, Georgette Torwan, Lemunantu Mariman, Natalie Steverson, Alycia Harper, Romeo Sianipar, Megan Stepanich, Kelsey Ransick, Angela Cobian.

Middle School Program
The Board approved allowing Englewood Middle School to pursue the application process for the Middle Years Program (IB) during the Spring of 2007.

Volunteer Recognition Program
Board members discussed the current Volunteer Recognition Program. While everyone agrees it is important to recognize volunteers at the District level, they would like something more informal and kid-friendly. Mr. Gramstorff agreed to revise this year's program to include time for informal gathering and an abbreviated formal recognition. Plaque recipients would still be recognized in a more formal setting, for example, a Board meeting.

Legislative Update
Ms. LaPlante provided an update on the legislative session, which is halfway through the session. She has been holding District Legislative Steering Committee meetings the first Monday night of each month at 7:00 p.m. Representative Joe Rice attended this month's meeting and Representative Anne McGihon will attend next month's meeting.

Board Approval of Supplemental Budget  Handout
The Board approved a resolution for a Supplemental Appropriation-Designated Purpose Grants Fund as detailed in the Board handout.

Consensus Items
The Board approved the following consensus items:
a. Personnel Recommendations & Addendum

Board Member's Choice
As part of Board Member's Choice, Ms. Miller noted that two EHS students would be attending a youth conference in Washington DC, sponsored by the City of Englewood. The students need a chaperone to travel with them. The chaperone's costs are not covered. Ms. Miller suggested that the Board make a donation from their supply account toward this effort.
The Board approved covering airfare expenses of the chaperone—not to exceed $500—so EHS students could attend the Washington DC conference.
