CADI Final Report
Ms. Karen Brenner, CDE and Comprehensive Appraisal for District Improvement (CADI) representative, presented a summary of CADI's recent assessment of Englewood Schools', based on nine standards for district improvement. The standards include curriculum, evaluation and assessment, instruction, culture, family and community support, professional development, leadership, organizational structure and resources, and comprehensive and effective planning. As part of the review, Ms. Brenner shared District Strengths and Assets, Challenges and Recommendations, and Recommended Next Steps.
There were many District strengths and assets identified, including the District's size, the facilities—which have been very well maintained, its fiscal responsibility, and community support/involvement. Noting that all schools have pockets of excellence, the CADI report highlighted Colorado's Finest Alternative High School, saying that CFHAS has model practices that can be used by all schools. The CADI assessment also praised the process used to consolidate Flood and Sinclair into a new middle school. Challenges centered around student achievement. Again, while noting pockets of excellence throughout the District, CADI recommends a common focus, high expectations for all students, and a sense of urgency. District administrators will use information from the CADI review, in conjunction with the Strategic Plan, to plan next steps.
Flood Property
Board members began discussing disposition of the Flood property. At this time, the District will send out RFQs (Request for Questions) to determine what type of interest there may be in the Flood property.
