Survey Report from Clayton Elementary
Mr. Jon Fore and Ms. Heather Hunt, SAC member, presented results from a survey that was conducted to measure the effectiveness of Clayton's assessment days, held on August 15 and 16. Surveys were sent out to all school families. There was a 75% response rate. 95% ofthe appointments made during the assessment days were kept. Survey results revealed that communication could be improved, both in getting the message out and explaining what would happen during these appointments. Ms. Hunt said that she thought the first month of school ran more efficiently by having the assessment days, rather than doing the testing throughout the first month. Mr. Fore said that Clayton had quite a few new teachers this year, and noted that the assessment days were also helpful for these new teachers.

Englewood School of the Arts
Mr. Bob Barrows provided an update of the work he has been doing on the proposed Englewood School of the Arts. Mr. Barrows introduced several people in attendance at the meeting from partner organizations. If approved, the first programs to be offered would be the School of Choral Arts, School of Dance, and School of Visual Art. Partner organizations are Colorado Ballet, Colorado Children's Chorale, and the Museum of Outdoor Art. There are several areas that need further investigation before a decision can be made; for example, enrollment numbers, additional space needs, transportation, and funding issues. Mr. Barrows and other District personnel will continue to work on these issues. The Board may consider next steps at the November 2 Board meeting.

Update on Pupil Activity Funds
Ms. LaPlante provided an update on the schools' Pupil Activity Accounts. Ms. LaPlante explained that there are various sources for these accounts. Some example sources are donations, fundraisers, and concessions. These funds also include field trip money and yearbook collection money. Mrs. LaPlante did a "mini-audit" of all schools' accounts and noted that the schools are doing a good job with these accounts. The accounts are well managed.

September Financial Report
Ms. LaPlante reported that revenues are lower than expected in the areas of transportation reimbursement and vocational education reimbursement. Interest earnings will come in higher than expected. She reported that expenditures are where they need to be.
